Stepping inside Eden Project Morecambe when it opens, you’ll enter a world of extraordinary living landscapes and immersive experiences, brought to life through art, theatre, interactive installations and play.
Now, thanks to the major new investment from Eden Project’s strategic partner Pears Foundation, the organisation that funds the national charity’s Big Lunch event, plans for a Habitations Zone can now take shape.
Across four vibrant spaces, the Zone will explore how we can rethink the way we live, work and connect with the natural world – and create a future where all living things can thrive.
Eden Project Morecambe, which should open in Winter 2028, aims to transform the town’s central promenade into a vibrant, year round destination, featuring striking shell inspired structures housing immersive environments exploring humanity’s relationship with the natural world.
The Habitation Zone will consist of four unique spaces, named High Street (celebrating the connections between people and place), Market (rethinking consumerism and discover new ways of sharing, making and exchanging), Farm (exploring the future of food and how we can grow in harmony with nature), and Town Square, where you will be able to join conversations and explore the challenges facing our communities in a locally-inspired meeting space
The team behind the project say these vibrant, theatrical areas will reflect people’s daily lives, sharing how local place based adaptation and worldwide innovation can collide to help us adopt approaches that can positively impact our planet.

Eden Project Morecambe is expected to create hundreds of jobs during construction and operation and deliver substantial economic, cultural and educational benefits for local people. Year round visitor numbers are projected to significantly boost the regional economy, supporting businesses, cultural organisations and supply-chain partners across Lancashire and Cumbria.
