Police are appealing for information after the air ambulance was damaged in Lancaster on Monday morning.
At some time between 7am and 7.30am on Monday morning, someone smashed the side window of the air ambulance while it was grounded temporarily at the Vale of Lune Rugby Club.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have any information to come forward and contact them.
“This was a completely senseless act of vandalism,” said a police spokesperson, “that could have had much more serious consequences and we would urge anyone with any information to come forward and contact police.”
Lynda Brislin, Chief Executive of the North West Air Ambulance Service said, “Although this mindless act of vandalism cost the charity money, our primary concern is that the air ambulance was not in operation for a day. Although, thankfully, we were able to rely on our other helicopter – the consequences could have been much greater than just a broken window.
“We rely on the support and kindness of the general public to allow us to operate, which is why I would urge anyone who has any information about this to get in touch with the police.”
