With Lancashire and the rest of the UK expecting poor weather conditions to continue today, Friday, building on problems overnight, local emergency services have issued the following advice.

We are likely to see strong winds, sustained rainfall and high tides in our area today, so be prepared.

Please avoid any unnecessary travel. If you have to travel then please drive carefully, slow down, use your lights and look out for debris in the road.

Secure any loose items around your property such as bins, trampolines and outdoor furniture.

Respect the water, avoid the coast and do not drive through flood water.

Please only call 999 if you or someone else is in immediate danger. This will help us to respond quickly to the most urgent incidents.
