Brian Kennedy, one of Ireland’s most successful ambassadors of music, will make a welcome return to The Platform in Morecambe on Friday 19 September.
Brian, whose most recent album, Interpretations, was released in March, is a prolific songwriter and a master interpreter of lyrics and audiences around the world continue to praise his vocal talent.
Performing live has always been at the core of Brian’s success, a fact not overlooked by Van Morrison who approached him to perform as part of his Blues and Soul Revue, which travelled the world to critical acclaim.
Brian has also toured with The Corrs, Tina Turner and Riverdance, and has featured on some of Van Morrison’s albums. He represented Ireland in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, where he came 10th overall.
Brian was selected to perform at the funeral of George Best, where his powerful renderings of ‘You Raise Me Up’ and ‘Vincent’ resulted in the release of a charity single ‘George Best – A Tribute’ from which ‘You Raise Me Up’ rapidly shot to Number 4 in the UK Charts.
Born in Belfast in 1966, Brian discovered his voice when he found he could repeat a note pitch perfect in a music class at school, and could harmonise along with the radio. However, at that time, he had no idea that just a few years later he would find himself in the enviable position of having three albums in the Irish Top 30 charts simultaneously.
Described by Q Magazine as having ‘a voice to charm the angels’, Brian continues to strengthen his reputation as a unique artist with a distinctive and extraordinary musical talent. Quite simply, Brian is a natural communicator. In his live concerts, with the firm belief that ‘Music is the language of emotion’, he takes his audience on a roller coaster ride for the whole performance and still finds the energy to meet up with his fans after each show.
• The concert will start at 8.00pm and tickets priced at £15 adults, £14 concessions are available from the Box Office on 01524 582803.
