Lancaster’ Carnival of Culture grroup is inviting locals to High Tea on the “lawns of St. Leonard’s Gate,” Lancaster, as part of its ongoing campaign to highlight alternatives to Centros Miller’s plans to turn the area into a huge shopping area that will inevitably suck the life and business from the town’s existing town centre.
Locals are encouraged to join in with some Victorian fun and frivolity on the “last remaining lawns of St. Leonard’s Gate” at St. Leonard’s gate/Alfred Street Junction this Friday (29 August 2008) between 4 and 7.30pm. The hope is that the event will transform the space into a vision of how local people would like it to look.
“Bring your ideas, inspiration, deck chairs, plants, top hats and tales of how Lancaster used to look,” say the organisers. “Enjoy a game of croquet on the lawns. marvel at the wonder of Lancaster’s creative talent. Take a moment to dream of how you would like our lovely city to look in the future. All welcome!”
The event will be followed by after party at the Gregson Centre on Moor Lane, 8 til 12.
