Work to tidy and open up an area of green space on the corner of Westbourne Road and Sibsey Street in Lancaster is due to start this week.

The work being carried out by Lancaster City Council grounds maintenance team aims to reduce problems with littering and fly-tipping in that area and provide a much improved public space.

Following consultation with local residents, the improvement work will involve the removal of overgrown non-native shrubs to allow for more space and natural light as well as paving works and the installation of planters.

The City Council says it is looking forward to working with members of the local community to maintain the space and enhance it further, with planting once the work is complete.
