If funny bones have a pulse then The Lancaster Comedy Club would have its fingers firmly on it! The Borough’s twice monthly comedy night has had an uncanny knack of bringing the best comics to the city just before the rest of the world catches on.
New Zealander Sam Wills (also known as The Boy With Tape On His Face) is a prime example. Although not quite at the Bishop or Manford stage just yet ‘The Boy’ – recently getting a lot of attention at this year’s Edinburgh Festival – has fast crept up the comedy ranks winning awards at the Adelaide, Melbourne and New Zealand Comedy Festivals.
Last year he was nominated for the ‘biggie’, the Fosters Comedy Award at last years Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The BBC have been quick to catch on, with The Boy appearing from the Royal Albert Hall last week alongside Tim Minchin and he’s been popping up on BBC3 with a regularity more akin to Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps!
Mime with noise, stand-up with no talking – drama with no acting is the phrase that best describes his act – but if you want the full picture get down to The Borough on Sunday 11th September where he makes his third appearance.
The show also features Newcastle’s John Smith, London’s Paul Ricketts and Oldham’s Rob Riley comperes.
