Three pubs on Lancaster’s St. George’s Quay have banded together for Quay-Fest, free music festival taking place 17th – 19th February in The George & Dragon, The Three Mariners and The Wagon & Horses.

This free event, supported by Lancaster BID and Beyond Radio will feature 23 live acts, with Samba Espirito performing at various locations on the Quay on Sunday 19th February.

“This is the first event,” say the team behind Quay-Fest, “and we hope to grow it over time to possibly twice a year, to include a warmer month, and also the extra possibilities that brings.”

Bands and soloists on the bill include James Candlish and Jamie Walker, and bands such as The Beets, Coastline, Killer Boots, The Thieving Magpies and T-Kay of the Soul Show.

A new dedicated website at quayfest.co.uk details the full, free programme and outlines the aims of the event, which will hopefully boost visitor numbers to Lancaster and the three pubs collaborating on this new event.

Performing Quayside on Sunday at various locations, Samba Espirito is a samba drumming band based in Lancaster should prove one of the event’s biggest draws. The band is influenced by Brazilian, African and other world musical styles and put together to give the local community the opportunity to experience the energy of playing carnival music.

An enthralling combination of dance movement and samba drumming beats, you can catch their thrilling sound and action from 12.30pm at The Three Mariners, a slow “march” across Millennium Bridge to the arches and the Maritime Museum.
