Police are appealing for information after lead thieves targeted a Lancaster school over the weekend.

A 30-yard section of lead and another 20-metre section of the material were taken between Friday 13th August and Monday 16th August.

The school was also hit by lead thieves around two weeks ago.

“The damage to the roof, along with the loss of lead, could cost around £1,000 – £2,000 to repair, which will have to come out of funds that should be used for school resources that benefit the pupils,” says PC Nikki Kay of Lancaster Police. “As the lead was removed, the roof leaked when it rained and this has damaged the children’s computers – a further cost to the school.

“Due to the height of the roof, the thief will have had to use ladders, so it is possible that people may have seen them taking the lead. If anyone has seen anything suspicious I would ask them to get in touch.”
