Seaton Parish Council – the council of “One of the largest villages in England” voted to reject continuing on any further steps to a geological nuclear dump 1000 metres deep by 26 kiometres square last night.
Seaton joins Cockermouth Town Council and Above Derwent Parish Council in emphatically rejecting the government’s orchestrated campaign to turn Cumbria into a nuclear sacrifice zone.
It remains to be seen whether similar opposition will have any imp[act on government plans for a third nuclear powr station at Heysham, but with Local MP David Morris backing the project and Peel Ports pushing for major expansion of Heysham Port, we’re guessing it will be a tough fight.
