6/3/17: Dog lovers are being invited to sign up to a very special charity even in Williamson Park on Sunday 23 April in aid of local families affected by cancer & life limiting conditions. It's a Fun Dog Show plus a 4km Walk, a doggy Agility Course and a Family Scavenger Quest with a St George’s Day theme.

Family Fun Day to make a difference to animals

19/8/13: This Saturday 24th August come along to a Family Fun Day at St Paul's Parish Hall (opposite the Church) on Scotforth Road, Lancaster, LA1 4SA. It will be hosted by the youth group Make A Difference.The fun starts at 11am and goes on 'til 3pm, and all proceeds will be donated to the local charity Animal Care in Lancaster.

Missing Animal? Here's Some Useful Information

13/6/13: Prompted by the sad discovery of a dead black and white cat on Owen Road, Skerton this morning, we're publishing some useful advice on what to do if you find a domestic animal (living or passed) that might be useful. In the event of finding a dead animal, Lancaster City Council says it should be left in situ, as they will collect it (Customer Services: 01524 582000).

Animal Christmas Fair this weekend in Morecambe

2/12/11: If you don't already know, Animal Care's Christmas Fair will be on Sunday 4th December at the Platform, Morecambe between 11.30 to 3.30. If you can get along and support their efforts to rehome and help animals abandonned through no fault of their own, the charity would be very grateful.

Animal Care seeks Open Day help

1/5/11: Lancaster charity Animal Care’s Open Day is going to be held on Sunday 22nd May and they need your help.   Do you work for a School, Club or Sports Centre or other organisation that would be willing to let them borrow a large amount of tables? They can collect them and return them to any address locally.   They're are also looking for volunteers to run stalls on the day and to set up and help.

30/3/10: Lancaster's Animal Care charity on Lancaster's Blea Tarn Road is looking for help at its Spring Fair on Friday 9th April 2010 at St Martin of Tours in Westgate, Morecambe. They need people to help run stalls, serve refreshments or bake some cakes for them to sell on the day.

Don't Dump Unwanted Pets, Pleads Local Shop Owner

5/4/09: A local shop owner has told virtual-lancaster she was heart broken to read recent news stories about pets being dumped into bottle banks. Last month, the Morecambe Visitor recently reported how pet rabbits, kittens and a guinea pig were all been dumped in local bottle banks, which then ate their own fur and skin in a desperate bid to survive. Only one kitten survived.

It's National Rabbit Week!

23/1/09: National Rabbit Week starts tomorrow (24th) and the Hutches Crutches Pet Centre in Bolton-le-Sands has been in touch to let us know they will be running a number of free demonstrations in store promoting rabbit welfare. Take your rabbit along for free claw clipping, dietary advice and learn how to check for potential health problems (Please phone the centre on 727600 to make an appointment).

5/1/09: As owners count the cost of the day-to-day upkeep and see insurance premiums and vet's bills rise, thousands of families are saying goodbye to their four-legged family members. Sky News reports that The Dog's Trust, the largest dog welfare charity in the UK, have twice as many pets on their waiting list to be rehomed than this time last year.
