Lancashire Library Services have announced a small Temporary Library will open on the White Cross Business Park on Monday 14th September, on the ground floor of the White Cross Neighbourhood Centre, while Lancaster’s Central Library is being refurbished for essential roof repairs.
This means that members of the library will again be able to borrow books in Lancaster without having to travel to other libraries in Lancashire.
There will be a choice of over 2000 books, as well as access to the internet and printing. You can also return borrowed books there. You can find directions to the Centre here
The library staff will also be doing Storytime at this temporary facility on Mondays at 11.00am, as well as Bounce & Rhyme on Wednesdays and Fridays at 11.00am.
The library will be open Monday to Saturday at 9.30 am. Closing times will depend on the day. On Thursdays the temporary library will close at 4.00pm. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays the library will close at 4:30 pm and on Mondays and Saturdays the library will close at 5pm.
There will not be any evening opening and the later opening of Morecambe Library that had been offered recently will cease from Monday 14th September.
Lancaster Central Library is expected to reopen in spring 2027.
