Police are appealing for information after a cyclist was injured in a fail to stop collision.

The incident happened at around 5.10pm on Monday 9th February close to the junction where Northgate meets Middlegate in Morecambe.

The 24-year-old cyclist was travelling along Northgate when it is thought that a vehicle has collided with the rear of his bike. As a result he fell to the floor and suffered a suspected fractured jaw and needed stitches for a number of facial cuts.

The vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene.

PC Kevin Illingworth of the Road Policing Unit said: “We know that an elderly couple did stop in their car at the scene briefly before continuing on their journey and we are keen to trace them as they may have witnessed the collision.

“Similarly if anyone else witnessed the collision I would urge them to come forward and the driver of the vehicle. Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log number 583 of 10th February.”
