National play dayLancaster City Council is inviting everyone to celebrate National Play Day with an action packed day of free activities and adventure at Salt Ayre Sports Centre.

On Wednesday 5th August 2015, children will have the chance to take part in face painting, balloon modelling, penalty shoot-outs and enjoy lots of fun and games.

There will also be bouncy castles, a pirate ship obstacle course, outside water slide, inflatable pool fun, pedal go kart grand prix, nine hole crazy golf, under fives soft play, and much more.

The fun begins at 10.00am. It’s free to take part, and there is no need to book. Just come along with your friends and family and have a great time.

The event finishes at 4.00pm. Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult.

Councillor Darren Clifford, Cabinet member with responsibility for leisure, said: “National Play Day has become an exciting fixture on the events calendar for the Lancaster district and aims to highlight children’s right to play and the importance of play in children’s lives.

“This is the first time the event has been held at Salt Ayre Sports Centre and with so many activities available throughout the day, and all for free, it is definitely not one to miss.”

Parents are urged to utilise public transport and the Lancaster to Morecambe cycle path where possible as car parking will be limited at the centre on the day.
