As we say goodbye to summer and the nights begin to draw in, thousands of shorebirds including ducks, geese and waders are undertaking incredible journeys to reach the sanctuary of Morecambe Bay for the colder months.

Once they arrive, their survival depends on retaining and saving their precious energy resources. If they make unnecessary flights, their reserves can deplete to life-threatening levels. The more energy they can retain, the better equipped they are to survive the winter.

Morecambe Bay is one of the UK’s top three migration destinations for winter birds and on 28th September 2021, you can find out where these amazing birds come from and how they get here at an evening Zoom event with Amy, Morecambe Bay Partnership’s Nature and Wildlife Officer.
