Lancaster City Council is offering a variety of bike maintenance and cycle skill courses to help you make the most of our wonderful district this summer by bike.

If you’re a regular cyclist, you might already know all the tricks to keeping your bike in tip-top condition but if you’ve just started out and need to know the secrets to a healthy bike, the council’s Cycling Demonstration Town (CDT) Team might have the answer.

For one Saturday each month from May until August, the council has teamed up with local recycling and training organisation Pedal Power to offer free maintenance classes for all levels of ability.

If you don’t know the first thing about maintaining your bike, then pop along on 27th June for a beginner’s session. If you already know the basics but want to know more, then why not take part in the intermediate class on 30th May 25th July, or the advanced class on 29th August.

All sessions take place at Pedal Power on Ridge Square, Lancaster. To book your free place call them on 01524 65328.

1-2-1 Cycle Training

If you’ve not ridden a bike for a long time and need that extra bit of confidence to get back on the saddle, why not take advantage of the special offer currently available for 1-2-1 cycle training and get the first two hours free!

1-2-1 cycle training with fully qualified national standard instructors is available for adults of all abilities who prefer a more personal touch to help them brush up on their cycling skills or for complete beginners.

Each session lasts one hour and you can book as many sessions as you think you need, either on or off road at a time and location that fits your schedule. Why not gain advice to confidently navigate a junction you have difficulty crossing on your journey to work or learn about the correct road position when cycling on busier routes.

One hour sessions are booked directly with the instructors. Usual training costs vary from £12 – £15 per hour.
