Lancaster police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an attempted armed robbery at the Costcutters store on Mainway, Lancaster, earlier this week.

At about 8.00pm on  Wednesday 9th March a man wearing a balaclava entered the store and threatened a member of staff with what is believed to be a hand gun. A second man kept watch at the door.

Both offenders then ran away from the store empty handed after being approached by a second member of staff.

Police have issued a CCTV image from the incident and are appealing for witnesses.

The main offender with the hand gun is described as white, slim build, around 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black balaclava with the eye holes and mouth holes cut out, dark grey hooded top and dark bottoms.

The second offender was wearing dark coloured clothing.

“Any offence involving a firearm is extremely serious,” commented Detective Sergeant Colin Forsyth from Lancaster CID, “and we would appeal to anybody who has information about to contact police immediately”
