A Christmas exhibition offering plenty of gift ideas will take place in the main gallery at The Storey in Lancaster this December, along with an Affordable Art Fair.

King Street Arts (formerly King Street Studios) have brought together artists from the local district, county and further afield to show and sell their good quality, original work from Wednesday 8th December until Thursday 16th December. Many of the artists have exhibited with them over the past five years.

“King Street Arts seeks to support artists and the public by creating exhibitions and workshops which encourage engagement, sometimes stretch boundaries and certainly look for new horizons,” said Roy Smith, who runs King Street Arts with Kath McDonald.

Roy and Kath have previously hosted this annual art fair at their premises in King Street but the gallery at The Storey provides more scope to display the wealth of paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, ceramics, original printworks, cards and prints priced £2 – £250.

“There is no theme to the exhibition so each artist is showing work that connects with their own interests and artistic practice,” said Kath.

“We are hoping to cover walls and tables with affordable art for the Christmas season.”

For those inspired by the affordable art fair to get creative themselves, two workshops will also take place in the gallery.

Maryam Golubeva leads two Christmas card making paper cutting workshops using traditional Eastern European designs on 11th December from 10.00 am until noon and 14th December from 6.00 – 8.00pm, and Natalia Bogolyubova will run a needle felting workshop producing Christmas baubles on 8th December from 6.00 – 8.00pm.

Admission to the art fair is free and each workshop costs £20 per person including materials.

The affordable art fair is open from Monday-Saturday, 10.00 am 4.30pm with a late night opening on 16th December until 8.00pm.
